The Barista Skills Foundation course provides participants with a basic understanding of coffee, as well as the basic skills needed to set up a grinder, prepare espresso, froth and texturize milk, and latte art technique in accordance with SCA quality standards. Hygiene and safety procedures and an approach to customer service are also implemented.
Practical learning objectives and activities prepare the participant to perform the key basic tasks of a barista. The written exam tests theoretical knowledge based on the learning objectives of the Foundation course.
