Hygiene and safety procedures and an approach to customer service are also implemented.
Practical learning objectives and activities prepare the participant to perform the key basic tasks of a barista. The written exam tests theoretical knowledge based on the learning objectives of the Foundation course.

SCA Barista Skills Intermediate
€400,00 with taxThe Barista Skills Intermediate course builds on the concepts and skills presented in the Foundation course. It is ideal for those who already have experience with barista skills and want to explore how to improve coffee quality and prepare for the more complex tasks found in the barista profession.
Through this interactive course, participants will gain a deeper understanding of coffee itself, particularly the influence of coffee type, origin and processing method on taste; parameters of coffee quantity, ground coffee texture, water quality and extraction time when preparing a coffee recipe; construction of potions and differences in taste; workflow management and efficiency, sensory aspects of espresso extraction; milk handling and latte art techniques. In addition to making coffee, this course also covers key concepts in health and safety, customer service and basic business practices.
The written exam tests knowledge from the Intermediate course, while the practical exam assesses the participant's ability to set up a grinder, analyze espresso extraction, latte art skills, and build drinks.

SCA Barista Skills Professional
€850,00 with taxThe Barista Skills Professional course is designed to test the advanced skills and detailed knowledge of the science used in the work of a professional barista (eg a barista with 12 months or more experience). Successful candidates will have researched and demonstrated the advanced skills typically expected of a Master Barista.
In particular, participants will acquire a sophisticated tasting methodology and descriptive interpretation of coffee taste; a detailed understanding of potion ingredients and the techniques available to maximize potion quality; understanding how to manage the skills of others to create quality potions; they will demonstrate an understanding of how to develop coffee recipes and a systematic way of structuring beverage menus; and finally, they will be able to consistently apply the highest standard of latte art and milk frothing techniques.
The written exam tests knowledge from the professional course, while the practical exam tests the described skills based on the various work activities performed during the course.
